TWINGTEC

WIND ENERGY 2.0

TwingTec unlocks the global wind energy potential, creating a future where electricity is produced in an efficient and sustainable way.

With a mission to enable wind energy in remote and off-grid areas, hence reducing diesel consumption and environmental impact, the team behind TwingTec has successfully demonstrated high potential of drones, when turning them into source of another type of renewable energy.

TwingPower is now more than the concept.  The technology was developed by a group of engineers and scientists from leading research and academic institutes within Switzerland, who have come together to pursue their collective dreams.  The TwingPower project has now became a reality.

TWINGPOWER - THE ENERGY DRONE

Introducing the Energy Drone, a tethered wing that launches and lands like a multi-copter and flies like a kite to produce electricity. The first product, the TT100, is a mobile wind energy system, aimed at harnessing wind energy in remote, hard to reach areas in combination with a diesel generator. Fully autonomous and easily deployed, the TT100 is the ideal power system for applications such as remote communities, off-grid mines, resorts, refugee camps and disaster zones.

The Twing, short for tethered wing, can operate up to 300 meters above the ground allowing for efficient energy harvesting even in low to moderate wind speed areas, increasing energy output and reducing diesel fuel consumption. The system is fully integrated into a 20 foot shipping container, allowing for easy transportation and installation.

KEY BENEFITS

SEAMLESS INTEGRATION

When the wind blows, the TT100 can supply up to 100 kW. If the load is higher or the wind is insufficient, a fuel based generator can be used to make up the difference.

FLEXIBLE

The Twing size can be selected based on the site to allow for maximal output and availability. The operating altitude of the Twing is automatically adjusted to optimise energy production.

ECONOMICAL

Based on simulated output, a single TT100 can displace 100,000 litres of diesel and 240 tons of CO 2 per year. Depending on the cost of diesel, the system can pay off in 2-5 years.

SCALABLE

The product range can meet any power requirements from 100kW to 100MW and above by arranging the systems in a farm configuration.

POWERFUL

By harnessing the strong and steady winds at higher altitudes, Energy Drones can achieve high capacity factors, resulting in excellent economics.

DEEP WATER COMPATIBLE

The systems can be mounted on floating platforms, so they can easily be deployed in deep, off-shore waters, vastly increasing the global wind energy potential.
